Leazes Park Angling Association Club Rules
1. All anglers will observe all regulations of the Environment Agency (E.A)
2. Members must carry up to date and valid membership cards and E.A licence at all times when fishing the club’s waters. If asked, they must be produced for any park official, police officer, E.A bailiff or other club member. Anyone found fishing without these documents will be asked to cease fishing immediately.
3. Members will cause no damage to Leazes Park or other fisheries within the TAA group, and are expected to prevent such behaviour in others. Any person found leaving litter will be suspended immediately from the club for a one-year period. Anyone found leaving discarded line will face disciplinary action and/or a lifetime ban from the club’s waters.
4. Membership is from 1st of April till 31 March annually. I.D cards and stamped, addressed envelopes (SAE) should be sent to the membership secretary when renewing by post. There will also be a membership renewal night in March (dates to be notified).
5. Members only (including junior members) may be permitted to make application to purchase a 3rd rod permit. The 3rd rod may only be used within the confines of the anglers’ swim and the swims of other anglers must be respected at all times. Any member failing to adhere to this rule, will be subject to disciplinary action for breach of club rules. Blatant abuse/breach of the rule may lead to the withdrawal of all 3rd Rod permit from the offending angler. The concessionary winter rule for the period 1st October to 31st March will remain unchanged. If more than 5 anglers fishing, all 3rd rods must be removed immediately.
6. All children aged 14 or below MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times regardless of membership status. 7. The use of bait boats is prohibited during daylight hours.
8. Any member found infringing the associations rules or jeopardising the fishing rights will be brought in front of the committee.
9. Members are not permitted to enter the lake/water for any reason at any time.
10. Keep nets must be a minimum length of 6ft (1.8m) long and made of knotless material. Members must not overcrowd keep nets and must ensure the well-being of their catch at all times. When fishing for carp, landing nets must be a minimum of 42 inches wide and you must use an unhooking mat of at least 36 inches or a specifically designed cradle (preferred). All anglers are encouraged to carry an unhooking mat at all times even if you are not specifically fishing for carp.
11. Anglers fishing for carp should have a suitable carp care kit (Korda carp care or Klinic etc).
12. Hooks used for carp must be barbless only and bent shank hooks are forbidden. Any club member may inspect another anglers’ hook and if the hook does not pass through material without minimal snagging it must be removed and replaced. Any member found to be in breach of this rule on more than one occasion will face disciplinary action by the committee.
13. No carp of any size are to be retained in keep nets or sacks of any description, except in official club matches and in those circumstances, fish must not exceed 2lb (0.9kg) in weight. All other carp are to be returned alive immediately after weighing and photography, this does not apply to crucians.
14. Carp Angling sessions are restricted to a maximum of 72 hours with a minimum gap of 24 hours between sessions before fishing on the club water. The angler is entitled to be accompanied by no more than one guest. All equipment must be fully removed between sessions. 15. Inspection of keep nets and their contents by committee members or club bailiffs is permissible at any time. Keep nets should not be used in extremely hot weather.
16. Absolutely no fish are to be introduced to the waters of the association without the permission of the committee. Pike/Zander and Game fish should be removed from club waters if caught.
17. All native fish to be returned alive to the club water at the end of the fishing session.
18. No spinning allowed AT ANY TIME.
19. The lake will be closed 2 hours before any authorized match and for the duration of the match. 20. Rules relating to the fishing of matches are to be explained verbally by match officials before the draw.
21. The use of live baiting in all forms with the exception of maggots, casters and worms, is forbidden.
22. The use of freshwater molluscs is forbidden.
23. No baited lines/hooks to be left unattended at any time. When fishing you may not leave your rods unattended and a maximum distance of 2 pegs to either side of your peg is your boundary. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in disciplinary action.
24. Split shot shall be of the nontoxic or lead substitute material.
25. All lead-core leaders are banned. The use of tubing is preferred, and naked lines are acceptable.
26. Day tickets must be purchased at least one hour before commencing fishing on the club’s waters.
27. A day ticket permit is limited to the use of two rods only.
28. Any person fishing on a day ticket must not fish between dusk and dawn, i.e. non daylight hours.
29. Tinned cans (with the exception of cold drink cans) e.g. sweet corn, meat etc. are not permitted on the bank at any time. Such baits should be prepared before arriving at the club water and stored in appropriate bait containers.
30. All committee to receive discounted membership as and when possible (financial status of the club).
31. Members must adopt a responsible and courteous attitude to all members of the club and members of the public and must endeavour to avoid injury in any way.
32. The obstruction of the pathways around the lake with holdalls and rod bags and shipped poles etc. is forbidden. Fishing items are to be placed close to the peg you are fishing. Remember, the club water is enjoyed by non-fishing members of the public who should be allowed to enjoy the benefit of the lake also.
33. Care must be taken at all times when casting, look all around especially behind and be aware of people on the walk ways.
34. Care must be taken when using floating baits i.e. bread, dog mixer, to prevent bird life taking the bait.
35. If lines are snagged, take extra care and ensure that nobody can be hurt by flying leads etc.
36. NO alcohol/drugs to be consumed while you are fishing. Breaking this rule will result in a life time ban.
